EUCL is a key electricity utility company in Rwanda, operating under Rwanda’s national electricity sector framework. As the deployment of prepaid, post-paid, CT-operated, and direct-connected smart meters continues to grow, accurate testing, verification, calibration, and maintenance have become increasingly important for ensuring reliable metering performance.
For this project, GENY Electric Ltd supplied two 40-position universal three-phase energy meter test bench systems.
These systems are designed for testing a wide range of energy meters, including:
Whole current meters
CT-operated meters
Smart meters
Prepaid meters
Post-paid meters
Direct-connected meters
According to customer feedback, the equipment fully meets the required specifications, performs reliably, and has delivered excellent results in practical use.
Key training topics included:
Overview of prepaid and post-paid metering systems
Differences between CT-operated meters and direct-connected meters
Smart meter architecture and communication basics
Components and operation of the electrical test bench
Meter installation, wiring, and configuration
Accuracy testing under different load conditions
Functional testing, including token, billing, relay, and tamper detection
Data analysis and reporting
Maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting
Electrical safety and good operating practices
By the end of the program, EUCL’s technical staff had strengthened their ability to test both direct-connected and CT-operated smart meters accurately, diagnose faults more effectively, and apply standardized testing procedures with greater confidence.

A Successful Case for GENY’s International Growth
As GENY continues to expand globally, technical support has become a vital part of its international business strategy. Supplying high-quality equipment is only the beginning. For advanced metering test systems, successful implementation also depends on installation guidance, user training, technical communication, and long-term after-sales support.
The EUCL project is a strong example of this approach.
It shows that GENY is not only a manufacturer of high-precision energy meter testing equipment, but also a solution provider capable of supporting international customers throughout the full project lifecycle.
The positive outcome in Rwanda provides an important reference case for GENY’s continued expansion in Africa and other international markets.
Strong Collaboration Between GENY and RIGIL-GENY
The successful completion of this training would not have been possible without the close cooperation between GENY Electric Ltd and RIGIL-GENY, GENY’s trusted partner in India.
RIGIL-GENY played an important role in preparing and delivering the training program. The team worked closely with the end user, understood the customer’s technical requirements, and provided clear, practical, and professional guidance throughout the training process.
The EUCL training project again proves that the cooperation between GENY and RIGIL-GENY is creating real value for customers and providing strong support for GENY’s global business development.
RIGIL-GENY’s Professional Capability in Action
RIGIL-GENY has already demonstrated its technical strength in multiple projects, and the EUCL training is another successful example of its professional service capability.
